Thousands of breast cancer survivors, friends and families will unite in an inspirational event Saturday to raise awareness and hope for those facing the disease.
The second annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5-Mile Walk will begin at Richardson Field near Aloha Stadium and go to Ford Island and back.
More than 900 women in Hawaii will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer this year.
Joyce Castillo, a breast cancer survivor, gathered her co-workers at Costco to walk with her.
"It's my way of saying we can do this together we can get thru this is doesn't have to be a death sentence," said Castillo.
Registration starts at 7 a.m. and there are festivities until the walk gets underway at 8 a.m.
You walk for a reason
Your involvement with the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event is as unique and special as the story that motivates you. Each step you take is personal. And each step is helping to save lives. More than a walk, the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event describes the progress we’re making together to save lives and create a world with less breast cancer and more birthdays.
Thanks to you, and the many others who participate and donate to the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event, we are getting closer to a world where breast cancer never steals another year from anyone’s life.
Whether this is your first Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event or your 15th, we hope you'll lend your support to the American Cancer Society.
It's not too late to register!
